To install the plug ins, do you have to have a business level plan with WordPress? I have a MAC so I’m not sure if that runs differently than a PC (this is the first time we’ve switched over to a MAC so Im still learning) I can not install plugins while building my site and I purchased a premium account.

Hi Danielle! No. Please don’t do with WordPress.com. It should be with WordPress.org – a self-hosted plan. You need to have a host. Please email me so I can clarify this better. 🙂

Hi there I have yet to start a blog so that’s why I got this course, so might be a bit behind, is WordPress the only platform you recommend? when I was looking into what options are out there for me it’s between WordPress and Squarespace…would you happen to know the differences perhaps? thank you in advance 🙂

Hi Kate! Squarespace is more like a drag and drop HTML editor. So if you’re building a website but not going to put a lot of content to it, then Squarespace is good. WordPress on the other hand is a content management system – basically a platform that is able to handle a ton of content such as a blog which is why it’s recommended. 🙂

I paid for hosting on Bluehost along with WordPress, do I still need to buy the domain name on Godaddy.com and if so, how do I integrate the two (Bluehost & Godaddy)?

Hi Jodi! You should have gotten a free domain name registration with Bluehost. Did you not get that prompt when you enrolled? I would contact their tech support if you didn’t.

Hi Lynne, I’m going thru your course to return to blogging. I actually had a successful crafting blog 10 years ago focused mostly on paper crafting, some sewing and crafts. I have a logo, branding etc that already exists, even an old etsy shop. Back then I had no idea on how to generate an income from it, is was just a fun hobby to do and I let it go when my life goals changed in 2013. Now I’m wanting to blog again, but with a different focus mostly on quilting, sewing, some crafting and maybe a life style post here and there. Do you recommend I start all over again with a new name, logo, brand etc??? I did have a .com but let that go however the blog is still archived youhadmeatcraft@blogspot.com. My feeling is to start fresh, but I wanted your advice. Thanks!
Hi Alexandra! Welcome back to blogging! Since you probably already lost audience on your original blog, I will start anew. However, if the posts are still relevant to today, I will find a way to import them from blogspot to WordPress and maybe freshen up the photos a bit. That way, you will have your cornerstone content almost immediately. 🙂

Hi Lynne,
I have a website with WIX and a domain. Do I need to start over with WordPress? i am so new to all of this.
Hi Arlene, apologies for the delay in reply. It is best to have your blog using WordPress as it is better in handling blog contents. Wix is better for simple websites. But if you’re going to have a lot of content as in a blog, it’s better to switch over to WordPress asap.

Hi Lynne,
What if I have more than 1 niche? I would like to focus on fashion, lifestyle, travel, and food! Well, everything I love and that I’m passionate about.
Hi Traci, I would do a lifestyle and that should cover everything else. 🙂

Hi Lynne,
Not sure you’ll see this as I know I’m a couple of years behind. First, would you still recommend Bluehost and WordPress? Second, I own my domain so there’s nothing else regarding that if I swtch from Wix to WP?
Thank you!
Andrea
Are you referring to WordPress.com? I wouldn’t recommend using WordPress.com at all. You’re going to have to sign-up for a standalone WordPress.
For an affordable WordPress hosting, I’d recommend Skystra.
